Exploring Intuitive Modelling Behaviour
نویسندگان
چکیده
Understanding modelling behaviour is an important step towards situated modelling support, especially when aiming to actively involve the domain expert in modelling without expert interventions. In search for a hypothesis on which modelling acts humans exhibit naturally, this paper presents an exploratory study into the modelling approaches intuitively taken by people trained in modelling as opposed to people not trained in modelling. Participants were asked to create a concept map of either a familiar or unfamiliar knowledge domain. Analysis shows that there are differences between the approaches novice and expert modellers follow, the decisions they make in representing an aspect or not, and the level of abstraction they choose.

Modelling of Stress-Strain Behaviour of Clayey Soils Using Artificial Neural Network
In this research, behaviour of clayey soils under triaxial loading is studied using Neural Network. The models have been prepared to predict the stress-strain behaviour of remolded clays under undrained condition. The advantage of the model developed is that simple parameters such as physical characteristics of soils like water content, fine content, Atterberg limits and so on, are used to mode...

متن کاملBusiness Intelligence for Strategic Marketing: Predictive Modelling of Customer Behaviour Using Fuzzy Logic and Evolutionary Algorithms
This paper describes an application of evolutionary algorithms to the predictive modelling of customer behaviour in a business environment. Predictive models are represented as fuzzy rule bases, which allows for intuitive human interpretability of the results obtained, while providing satisfactory accuracy. An empirical case study is presented to show the effectiveness of the approach.
متن کاملFrom Model-Based Design to Formal Verification of Adaptive Embedded Systems
Adaptation is important in dependable embedded systems to cope with changing environmental conditions. However, adaptation significantly complicates system design and poses new challenges to system correctness. We propose an integrated model-based development approach facilitating intuitive modelling as well as formal verification of dynamic adaptation behaviour. Our modelling concepts ease the...
متن کاملComputational Modelling of Structures with Non-Intuitive Behaviour
This paper presents a finite-element analysis of honeycomb and re-entrant honeycomb structures made of a two-phase composite material which is optimized with respect to selected parameters. It is shown that some distributions of each phase in the composite material result in the counter-intuitive mechanical behaviour of the structures. In particular, negative values of effective Poisson's ratio...
